Commercial importers of raw material should take on board: Chairman PCDMA

Karachi, October 11, 2019 (PPI-OT): Amin Yousuf Balgamwala, Chairman Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) and Ex Director of Stock Exchange, has said that it is not possible to increase the export to the tune of Rs. 26 million dollars as stated by APTAMA on the current scenario and further said that lot of taxes, costly industrial raw material and increase the cost of production would hall the wheel of industry and how can it’s possible to increase export on this situation.

Amin Yousuf Balgamwala said, the only way to increase the export is to less the burden of taxes to all the Industry, who allied with export oriented industries and make the way to decrease the cost of business even the vision of Prime Minister to ease of doing business and to increase the export but the situation is vice versa and not make any strategy for ease of doing business or decrease the cost of business.

He further said that, if APTMA really want to increase the export, they first do their role in solving the problem of every sector, who help the textile industry to carry their production activities and especially take the problem of commercial importer of industrial raw material and take them on board, also make their role to reduce taxes on import of raw material.

Amin Yousuf Balgamwala demanded to Government to abolish the discrimination of taxes between industrial and commercial importer of industrial raw material, because commercial importer played as important role in by supplying the raw material on timely basis to carry their production activities, if commercial importers stopped the import of raw material, if will be hard for industry to continue their production activities.

Due to high rate of taxes on import for commercial importer as compared to industries, it is Difficult to continue import for commercial importers, so Government should provide level playing field for both commercial importers and industries, so that export industry can get raw material on cheap rate and reduce the production cost, which ultimately increase the country export.
