Commissioner Karachi orders foolproof security arrangements around churches on Christmas

Karachi, December 15, 2018 (PPI-OT): Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has directed the security personnel to ensure foolproof security arrangements and take extra security measures around the churches so that the Christian community can celebrate Christmas in a festive mood and with a sense of security. He issued these directives in a meeting held under his chairmanship at his office to review that arrangements for the security of the churches and ensuring civic facilities around the churches as well as the neighborhood where the Christian community resides.

The meeting was attended among others by the by all Deputy Commissioners, Senior officials of Police ,KMC , DMCs, CTD, Traffic Police Water and Sewerage Board , Assistant Commissioner General Commissioner Karachi office Aijaz Rind. Member Provincial Assembly representing Christian Community Anthony Naveed and religious and social leaders from the community including Father Saleh Diego, Father Mario Rodrigues Father Ashir Iftikhar, Antony D’Silva, Saleem Micael, Pervaiz Gill were also present on this occasion.

It was decided that all civic agencies would make special arrangements for ensuring cleanliness around the churches and ensuring no sewerage problem takes place. He directed the DMCs to ensure installation of street lights as well on this occasion. Water Board was asked to make special arrangements to ensure water supply to the churches and the neighbour hood of the Christian community.

Traffic Police was asked to make traffic arrangements at the churches and ensure no traffic congestion takes place around the churches It was also decided that all deputy commissioners would hold meetings with the concerned agencies as well as the members of Christian community to review and finalize the arrangements with regard to civic facilities in their respective district He asked the officials of district administration to keep close coordination to provide maximum cooperation to the community.

He said that efforts be made to ensure areas around churches and neighbourhoods, where the Christian community resides in large numbers, were kept clean and street lights remained in working condition. Commissioner Shallwani also asked the K Electric to ensure uninterrupted electric supply to the churches as well as the neighborhood on this occasion. He further said that K electric should avoid load shedding and should make alternative arrangements for providing un-interrupted electric supply to the churches so that Christian Community can celebrate festival without any disruption.
