New Delhi, A striking revelation at Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, has surfaced, where students were initially awarded 50% marks for merely writing “Jai Shri Ram” and the names of cricket stars on their examination papers.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the unusual grading decision affected students enrolled in the Diploma in Pharmacy program at the state-run institution. The grading anomaly was uncovered after a Right to Information (RTI) request was filed, leading to an official probe and a directive for a re-examination of the affected students.
The investigation confirmed the inappropriate grading and led to a recommendation for the dismissal of two teachers involved in the marking. The final decision on their dismissal now awaits approval from Governor Anandiben Patel, who also serves as the chancellor of the university.
This issue was initially brought to public attention by Divyanshu Singh, a former student of the university, who sought clarity on the marks through the RTI plea. His actions prompted further scrutiny and a formal complaint to the governor, which in turn sparked the ongoing investigation.
