Srinagar, January 13, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), today, conducted the fifth and final phase of its Court Arrest Campaign aimed at seeking the revocation of the life imprisonment awarded to Kashmiri youth by Indian courts.
By the JKLF leaders, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Sheikh Khalid Mubarak, Nisar Ahmed Jeelani and Bashir Ahmed Rather, 39 people including the JKLF leaders and activists besides the relatives of Kashmiri youth facing life imprisonment courted arrest during a precession at Aabi Guzar in Srinagar. They raised high-pitched pro-freedom slogans on the occasion. The detainees were later shifted to Kothi Bagh Police Station in Srinagar.
135 people including the JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, have courted arrest since launch of the Campaign on January 4 to seek the revocation of the life imprisonment awarded to Kashmiri youth by Indian courts.
Addressing the procession, today, Noor Muhammad Kalwal said pro-liberation people had been facing detention and other atrocities during the ongoing liberation movement and such hardships could not deter their resolve. He said that the objective of the Campaign was to express solidarity with the illegally detained Kashmiris.
