CPEC Identified as a Key Driver for Investment and Development

Islamabad: Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani highlighted the significant role of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in attracting investment, facilitating technological transfer, and fostering skill development in Pakistan. He spoke at the unveiling of the “China Chamber of Commerce Sustainable Development Report 2023” in Islamabad.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Chairman Gillani described CPEC as a bipartisan initiative supported by all opposition parties in Pakistan. He addressed the ongoing support for Chinese companies and nationals involved in the project, emphasizing enhanced security measures and streamlined bureaucratic processes to accelerate the initiatives under CPEC’s second phase.

Furthermore, the CPEC has reportedly created 155,000 jobs, benefiting both skilled and unskilled workers in Pakistan. Chinese Minister Counsellor Yang Guangyuan also noted a significant improvement in Pakistan’s economic indicators since the new government’s inception three months ago.
