Islamabad, May 26, 2023 (PPI-OT): Minister for Energy Khurram Dastagir has inaugurated the 220 km long 500 kv Thar-Matiari transmission line in Matiari. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Minister said that as per instructions of the Prime Minister work on the Thar-Matiari transmission line has been completed in record time at a cost of 20 billion rupees.
He said that it is the most important project in terms of future energy needs of the country. The Minister said that production of electricity from Thar Coal has increased to 1980 MW which has now been added to National Grid through this transmission line. He said that Thar Coal power projects are very important to generate cheap electricity. Khurram Dastagir said upon completion these projects will usher in a new era of development and prosperity for the people and will boost industrialization in the area.
