Lahore, March 02, 2015 (PPI-OT): An 8 member delegation from Thailand Board of Investment visited Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) on March 2, 2015. During general discussion, Ms. Siriporn Nurgsa deliberated upon the activities of Thai board of Investment and different sectors of investment. She informed that besides catering different sectors of investment, Thai BOI is doing focused work pertaining to the investment in the agriculture and energy sector in Biomass and biogases.

She also highlighted that Thailand has expertise in automobile industry, value addition in food processing and packaging and technology which could be the areas of investment in Pakistan. In addition to this she proposed that Thai BOI and PBIT may engage positively in different areas of mutual interest and information sharing in order to explore investment opportunities in Thailand and Pakistan.

Delegation members invited PBIT officials to visit Thailand and assured the meeting with their ministry of industry which would enable PBIT to develop strong linkages with the Thai authorities and to know more about Thailand’s Investment Climate. After identifying the areas of collaboration Thai Investors would be invited to Pakistan.

Ms. Lubna Pathan DG, Projects and Policy Research appreciated the vision and efforts of Thai BOI for the promotion of investment initiatives in Thailand. She also informed the members of the delegation about the investment Conference being organized by PBIT in May 2015 and extended an invitation to Thai Businessmen.
