Dewali gives us message of Love, Tolerance, Peace: Minister

Islamabad, November 15, 2012 (PPI-OT): Devali gives us complete message of love, tolerance, peace, respect and to obey the parents. This was stated by the Minister of State Akram Masih Gill while addressing Devali celebrations at the Government’s level in Islamabad. He added that is our religious duty to repeat and practice the spirit of love, justice and peace.

The best respect to Shri Ram Chander Jee would be to strictly follow his principles. Deevali, for most of us, is a time of joy and happiness, but we should not forget the distressed people of the society. Today, Hindu community of Pakistan stands integrated and is taking active part in the socio-economic development of the country.

Akram Gill further stated to promote interfaith harmony, we need to respect religions of faiths of all and strongly participate in each others religious celebrations to attain higher goals of interfaith harmony, in Pakistan. Tolerance and fair play can build us as a strong nation.

Minister of State said that we are committed to ensure the rights of Non-Muslims as enshrined in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Government believes that the Non-Muslims of Pakistan are equal citizens of the state and entitled to have equal rights.

He informed that the following steps have been taken for the uplift and development of the Non-Muslims of Pakistan.

Reservation of 5% quota in government jobs/services.

Declaration of 11th August, as Minority Day.

Created a new Ministry of National Harmony.

Efforts for increase in reserved seats of the Non-Muslims in the National and the Provincial Assemblies.

On this occasion, Minister of State stated that we will struggle jointly for for the betterment of society and welfare of the people of Pakistan. He assured to continue struggle to uplift and improve the living condition of, Non-Muslims in Pakistan.

Devali has been celebrated on government level in the light of government decision to celebrate religious events of all faiths in Pakistan such as Ester, Christmas, Norse, Holi and Devali.
