Minister awards cash prizes and medals to Federally Administered Tribal Areas players

Islamabad, November 15, 2012 (PPI-OT): The FATA female and male medal winners of the Punjab International Youth Festival honored with cash prizes by the President of FATA Olympic Association Engr. Shaukat Ullah, Minister SAFRAN in a reception held at Committee Room of the Ministry of SAFRON here today.

Secretary FATA Olympic Association Shahid Khan Shinwari, Director Sports FATA Faisal Jamil Shah, Engr. Saif Ul Islam, Chef de Mission of the 52 member contingent Ayub Khan, Deputy Chef de Mission Nazia Zaki, the medal winners female and male players, their parents, coaches were also present in the ceremony.

Speaking on this occasion President of FATA Olympic Association Engr. Shaukat Ullah, Minister SAFRAN, lauded the efforts of the female and male players and assured them all out support in training and coaching them so that they could be able to represent FATA at National and International levels.

He said the aim and objective of holding the ceremony was to honor the players who created history by winning medals in the Punjab International Youth Games against tough teams like Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wherein teams from 24 countries of the world also took part. “Today is historical day,” he added. FATA took part for the first time with its own flag and separate contingent, the Minister added. He said the FATA female achieved great success by securing second position in the female after Punjab while Balochistan took third position and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained at fourth.

He said the youth of FATA have great potential and if provided opportunities they can excel at national and international levels. While congratulating the players, he said, honouring them with cash amount is token of gestures as they achieved great name for the people of FATA and for Pakistan.

He said that people of FATA believed in peace and their forefather had rendered great sacrifices for the motherland.

At the end Engr. Shaukat Ullah awarded medals, cash prizes and certificates to the players. Secretary FATA Olympic Association Shahid Khan awarded him a shield. Shields were also awarded to the officials of the FATA contingents.
