DPM Highlights Potential to Deepen Pakistan-ASEAN Ties

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has emphasized the potential to enhance relations between Pakistan and ASEAN member states in areas such as trade, tourism, connectivity, IT, and education. He expressed these views during a meeting with ASEAN Heads of Missions from Myanmar, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia, who visited him in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting occurred ahead of the Deputy Prime Minister’s planned participation in the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum Ministerial Meeting in Malaysia later this week. Senator Dar also recognized the robust cooperation between Pakistan and ASEAN.

The ASEAN Heads of Missions reaffirmed the significance of Pakistan’s partnership with ASEAN and its member states. Additionally, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch hosted the ASEAN Heads of Missions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to the effective implementation of the look-East Policy and the strengthening of both bilateral and multilateral ties with ASEAN members.

The Foreign Secretary highlighted initiatives to boost Pakistan-ASEAN political, economic, and cultural relations.
