Dr. Paul for promotion of interfaith harmony to bring peace

Islamabad: Advisor to the Prime Minister on Interfaith Harmony and Minority Affairs Dr. Paul Bhatti has said Pakistan making all out efforts to promote interfaith harmony among the minorities as we respect all faiths.

He expressed these views in a statement here today adding Pakistan has saved sacred relics of Buddha as we respect Buddha belief equal to any other one aimed at promoting peace and love.

He said we have sent sacred relics of the Buddha to Sri Lanka as gesture to promote interfaith harmony between the two nations which have cultural and historical strong relations.

He said these sacred relics have been exhibited at the Colombo Museum. After the conclusion of the exhibition, the relics will be taken back to Pakistan.

The Advisor with the status of Federal Minister has himself handed over the relics to the government of Sri Lanka which were received by Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa. Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs Minister MKDS Gunawardena were also present to receive the Pakistani delegation led by Dr. Paul Bhatti.

The Advisor said the relics are a valuable part of the archaeological heritage of our country and depicts the rich Buddhist history of Pakistan. The exhibition in Colombo has displayed these high quality cultural assets from the Gandhara region of Pakistan and encompasses four sacred artifacts and relics.

The artifacts and relics consist of the collection of the Peshawar and the Taxila Museum. These exhibits include the Sacred Tooth Relics of the Buddha, Kanishka Relic Casket from Shah-Ji-Ki-Dheri, stone reliquary in sputa shape and a golden casket, he said.
