Eighth Round of Bilateral consultations between Pakistan and Switzerland held

Islamabad, November 28, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Eighth Round of Pakistan–Switzerland Consultations was held in Berne on 28th November 2014. The Pakistan side was led by Mr. Nadeem Riyaz, Additional Secretary (Europe). The Swiss delegation was headed by Ambassador Johannes Matyassy, Assistant State Secretary for Asia Pacific of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Consultations provided an opportunity to have a frank exchange of views on bilateral, regional and global issues. The two sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen the existing relationship in diverse areas especially, political, economic, education, culture and development.

It was also agreed that the two sides will work towards the exchange of parliamentary delegations, cooperation between Chambers of Commerce and work in areas of renewable energy. Linkages between educational institutions would also be explored. The talks were held in a cordial atmosphere. It was agreed that the next Round of political consultations will be held in Islamabad in 2015.
