Emir of Kuwait, Iraqi President discuss regional and international developments

Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah met here on Wednesday with Iraqi President Dr. Barham Salih, where they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them.

During the meeting, held at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, the two sides also reviewed issues of mutual concern and the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.

Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported that the talks were cordial, reflecting the depth of relations between the leadership in the two countries, as well as the spirit of fraternity and understanding that bring together Kuwait and Iraq, embodying both sides’ desire to support and develop bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The Kuwaiti Emir arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday, heading a ministerial delegation for an official visit to Iraq, where he is also expected to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi and Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Halbousi to discuss bilateral ties and the developments in the Middle East. The visit is the second for Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad since he became the Emir of Kuwait in 2006.
