EU likely to okay trade concessions for Pakistan – Alfalah Securities Limited

Karachi, June 14, 2012 (PPI-OT): European Union (EU) is likely to approve the autonomous trade preferences (ATP) for Pakistan on Thursday, under which tarifffree export of 75 Pakistani products will be allowed to EU markets for three years.

According to Alfalah Securities Limited, the products are those which got WTO waiver in the beginning of the year. EU Commission had proposed in October 2010 the emergency ATP for Pakistan as a compensation for that year’s massive floods. The said concession bodes well for the textile sector being a major export contributor.
