Lahore: On the fourth day of Muharram, Punjab Police deployed 32,291 officers and personnel to ensure security for 268 processions and 3,776 Majalis throughout the province, reflecting a comprehensive strategy to maintain peace during this significant period.
According to Punjab Police, the efforts were overseen by senior officials, including Regional Police Officers and District Police Officers, who personally inspected the security arrangements at sensitive locations. Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, emphasized that the province remains on high alert, with particular attention to Imambargahs, procession routes, and Majalis venues. Additional measures include the deployment of women police officers for the security of female mourners and strict enforcement of Section 144 to prevent aerial firing and the display of weapons.
