FBR Clarifies No Tax on Arshad Nadeem’s Olympic Prize Money Amid Rumors

Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially refuted rumors suggesting that taxes would be levied on the prize money awarded to Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem, affirming that such claims are entirely baseless.

According to Federal Board of Revenue, there has been misleading information circulating in electronic and social media about taxing Nadeem’s winnings. The FBR stated that Arshad Nadeem, who brought home Pakistan’s first Olympic gold medal in 40 years, is a national hero whose prize earnings will not be subjected to withholding tax.

Additionally, the government plans to exempt his income from taxes well in advance of the filing deadline in September 2025. This clarification aims to put to rest any concerns about the taxation of Nadeem’s Olympic earnings.
