Islamabad: Addressing the needs of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) is a top priority for the federal government, as per Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan and SAFRON, Engr Amir Muqam. The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to leveraging the region’s potential for tourism, minerals, and hydropower during a high-level meeting at the Gilgit Baltistan Council.
According to Press Information Department, Minister Muqam chaired the meeting which focused on various developmental strategies for GB. He assured that the trader’s issues in the region would be resolved in accordance with prevailing rules and laws, emphasizing a collaborative approach with all stakeholders. The Minister also highlighted the government’s success in resolving wheat supply issues in GB, noting the provision of subsidies to ease the local populace’s burdens.
The meeting, which saw participation from key government officials including Secretary Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary and Chief Secretary GB Abrar Ahmad Mirza, underscored the federal commitment to not just address immediate concerns but also to harness GB’s rich resources for broader economic development.
