Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb Discusses Economic Reforms at IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington DC


Washington DC, Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, actively participated in a series of crucial meetings during the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Spring gatherings. His agenda included discussions on Pakistan’s economic strategies, emphasizing agriculture, inflation control, and trade stability. Mr. Aurangzeb also attended meetings focusing on regional economic issues with IMF leaders and other international counterparts.



According to Ministry of Finance, Mr. Aurangzeb presented at the JP Morgan Seminar on “Pakistan: Economic Policy Outlook,” where he detailed the strong performance of Pakistan’s agricultural sector, the reduction in inflation, and the stability of the national currency. He outlined the country’s readiness to continue reforms in taxation, energy, and privatization to support sustained economic growth. In his discussions with IMF Managing Director Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, he highlighted the challenges posed by geo-economic fragmentation and reiterated the importance of global financial support for Pakistan.



Throughout the sessions, Mr. Aurangzeb met with various global financial leaders and government officials to strengthen economic ties and discuss investment opportunities. Key meetings included engagements with the US State Department, UAE’s Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and the Executive Vice President of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), where he highlighted the ongoing efforts to improve Pakistan’s investment climate.



The finance minister’s schedule reflected a comprehensive approach to addressing both immediate economic challenges and long-term development goals, with a particular focus on enhancing international partnerships and investment in Pakistan.
