Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Highlights Lessons from China’s Development Model at Pak-China Institute Event

Islamabad: Mr. Qaisar Ahmed Sheikh, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, served as the chief guest at a special event program titled “Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,” organized by the Pak-China Institute. During his address, Sheikh emphasized the philosophical shift in China’s development approach, advocacy for reforms prioritizing economic balance with social stability, and the security measures for Chinese investors in Pakistan.

According to Press Information Department, Sheikh detailed the changes in China’s economic strategies and how these could be applied to Pakistan. He proposed the creation of a think tank focused on Balochistan to leverage its potential and discussed the federal actions to ensure the security of Chinese investments in the region, particularly in sectors like shipping and infrastructure. Sheikh endorsed the strategic partnership under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), mentioning the benefits for Pakistan, including technological advancements and sustainable economic growth through green development initiatives.

Furthermore, the minister praised China’s model of integrating market dynamics with state oversight, which he described as a blueprint for Pakistan’s own economic reforms. He concluded by expressing optimism for the strengthening of Pak-China relations and the successful completion of bilateral projects such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
