Finance Minister Calls for Enhanced Tax-to-GDP Ratio

Islamabad, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb has emphasized the need to enhance the Tax-to-GDP ratio and expand the tax base as critical strategies for maximizing revenue collection in Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Minister’s remarks were made during a visit to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Headquarters where he met with Chairman FBR, Malik Amjad Zubair Towana. The Chairman briefed the Minister on the revenue collection efforts for the current financial year (2023-24) and discussed various challenges, including pending legal cases that affect revenue. It was resolved to devise a comprehensive strategy to actively pursue these cases for the early recovery of revenue and to achieve the ongoing year’s revenue collection target.
