Finance Minister presides over a meeting to review results of revenue related measures and initiatives announced in budget 2015-16

Islamabad, January 10, 2016 (PPI-OT): Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar presided over a meeting to review the results of revenue related measures and initiatives announced in the budget 2015-16. Chairman FBR gave a detailed run-down on revenue measures and the targets in relation to each measure set in the budget. It was noted that most of the new revenue measures had yielded the targeted results.

At the same time a few revenue measures had yielded better than expected revenue. On average, the new measures had yielded more than 50% of the targeted revenue for 2015-16, which was a positive reflection on the efficacy of the new revenue measures.

The Chairman FBR said that the achievement of 2nd quarter target had encouraged the tax collection machinery and it would be the endeavour of FBR to maintain the same momentum for the rest of the year. He said that research and analysis was an important area and the success of the new measures was also due to the fact that proper home work had been done before their introduction.

The minister expressed satisfaction on the state of tax collection so far and hoped that further improvement would be made in the future. The minister also directed FBR to continuously explore the possibility of introducing further reforms as well as providing relief to the tax payers wherever possible.
