ISLAMABAD / KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), under the leadership of President Atif Ikram Sheikh, launched a groundbreaking training initiative at the First Annual Conference on “Co-creating Pakistan’s TVET System for Future-ready Workforce” held in Islamabad. The event, supported by the TVET Sector Support Programme and co-funded by the EU and Germany, aims to bridge the skills gap between Pakistan’s youth and the industrial sector.
European Union Ambassador to Pakistan, Raimundas Karoblis, highlighted the significance of international collaboration, stating, “The EU is proud to stand with Pakistan under Team Europe’s TVET Sector Support Programme. Economic competitiveness relies on a skilled workforce, and this collaboration represents a vital step in ensuring that Pakistan’s training institutions produce graduates who are ready to lead in a global market.”
At the conference, Mr. Sheikh announced a pioneering plan to provide Web-Based Trainings to 1,000 senior members of Business & Industry Associations and Institute Management Committees. He emphasized the importance of reshaping Pakistan’s economic destiny through skills development, establishing a platform for sustainable dialogue between the public and private sectors.
The event was attended by high-ranking dignitaries, including Muhammad Aamir Jan, Executive Director of NAVTTC, and partners from German Cooperation, GIZ, and the British Council. Representatives from sectors such as renewable energy, IT, textiles, agriculture, and hospitality participated to create a framework for industry-led skills development.
Senior Vice President of FPCCI, Saqib Fayyaz Magoon, underlined the urgency of the initiative, stressing the need to align youth skills with industry requirements to drive workforce development.
A significant focus of the conference was the inclusion of women in the economic workforce and the integration of green skills. Qurrat Ul Ain, Vice President of FPCCI, urged trade organizations, especially Women Chambers of Commerce & Industry, to register for training, highlighting the integration of sustainability and green skills into governance.
Executive Director of NAVTTC, Muhammad Aamir Jan, spoke about the necessity of public-private collaboration platforms, noting the importance of addressing barriers faced by Institute Management Committees and industry associations.
The conference concluded with breakout sessions on TVET Governance and green technology integration, setting the foundation for enhanced economic competitiveness through workforce readiness.
