Golden jubilee of the constitution 1973: Advisory committee approves media strategy for golden jubilee celebrations

Islamabad, March 15, 2023 (PPI-OT): National Assembly Hall in the State Bank building to be restored to its former glory and declared as National Heritage: NA Advisory Committee Golden Jubilee celebration of Constitution to be kicked off from 23rd March 2023. Advisory Committee of the Parliament to oversee the preparations for golden jubilee celebrations of the Constitution 1973 in its fourth meeting approved media strategy for the celebrations. The Committee also condoned designs for the commemorative stamps and coin.

Moreover, the meeting thoroughly reviewed the progress made with respect to construction of constitutional monument, restoration of its old National Assembly Hall at the State Bank building, Islamabad, special messages by PTA as well as status of declamation contests being carried out at educational institutes across the country.

Ms. Marriyum Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting while sharing details of the media strategy to cover the commemoration said that all departments of the ministry including PTV, Radio Pakistan, DEMP, PID, EP Wing, and PEMRA had planned certain activities related to the celebrations.

Some of which were airing of special programs, documentaries, podcasts, exhibitions, quiz contests, mushairas, publications of articles, news supplements etc., she added. It was shared that all activities would be given ample coverage on print, electronic and digital media both in private and public sphere with special emphasis on regional channels.

The Chair of the Committee Senator Mian Raza Rabbani and other Members lauded the comprehensive strategy and also gave their input, where required, to make it more inclusive and comprehensive. Federal Minister for Finance Mr. Ishaq Dar apprised the Committee that matters related to restoration of old Assembly Hall at the SBP building had been addressed, and hopefully would be completed in few months’ time.

The Committee proposed to declare the said Hall as national heritage. Moreover, he also shared sample designs for the commemorative coin, one of which was approved by the Committee. The Committee lauded the speedy response of the Minister with respect to dedicated tasks. Additionally, the meeting also took cognizance of the; reports of the Sub-Committees on Education and Declamations, construction of constitutional monument, finances related to the event among others.
