Govt to Implement Emergency Plan to Address Water Shortage in ICT: Naqvi

Islamabad: A meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad decided to implement an emergency comprehensive plan to address water shortage in the federal capital. It was decided that dams will be constructed for the twin cities in collaboration between the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Punjab government.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting reviewed both short-term and long-term measures to increase the water supply in the twin cities. Proposals to address shortcomings in the current water supply system in Islamabad were discussed, with an emphasis on identifying flaws in the water distribution network and the need for an efficient delivery system.

WAPDA and CDA presented various options, feasibility reports, and expected timelines to increase water supply, deciding that Dotara Dam will be completed in two years. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi ordered a strict crackdown against water theft and misuse of connections, directing immediate and effective measures to ensure water supply for the residents. He emphasized that under a short-term plan, all resources should be utilized to ensure the provision of water.
