Heatwave claims 57 lives in Utter Pradesh district

Ballia, June 19, 2023 (PPI-OT): Fifty-seven people have died in four days in the BJP ruled Utter Pradesh state of India. These patients who were admitted at Ballia district hospital have died in four days, officials said the deaths come amid the heat wave conditions in the region.

The committee comprising Director (Communicable Diseases) Dr AK Singh and Director (Medical Care) KN Tiwari, also ruled out severe heat as main reason behind the rise in deaths of elderly patients in the district. “As per records of the district hospital, of the 54 deaths, 40 per cent of the patients had fever, while 60 per cent were suffering from other diseases,” CMO Kumar told the media.

Nearly 400 patients were admitted to the district hospital from June 15 to June 17, the health officials said.
