Islamabad, Heatwave conditions are likely to subside this week as a shallow westerly wave is predicted to bring rain and thunderstorms to various parts of the country from June 4 to June 7, 2024.
According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the westerly wave is expected to enter upper and central parts of the country on the evening or night of June 4 and may persist for the next three days. Under the influence of this weather system, several regions will experience significant weather changes.
In Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, rain and thunderstorms are expected in areas including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur from the evening or night of June 3 to June 8, with occasional gaps.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, dust storms and thunderstorms with rain are forecasted for Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Mardan, and Kurram from the evening or night of June 4 to June 8, with occasional gaps.
In Punjab and Islamabad, dust storms and thunderstorms with rain are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, and Mianwali from June 4 to June 6, with occasional gaps. Dust storms and thunderstorms with isolated rain are also expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, D.G. Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, and Layyah from the evening or night of June 5 to June 7.
In Balochistan, dust storms and thunderstorms with isolated rain are expected in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Sherani, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, and Barkhan from the evening or night of June 5 to June 7.
In Sindh, dust storms and gusty winds with isolated rain and thunderstorms are expected in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Larkana on June 6 and 7.
