Heavy Rains Cause Property and Crop Damage in Mohmand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Mohmand: Recent heavy rainfall in the Dawezai area of Tehsil Pindiali Lower Mohmand has resulted in significant property damage, including injuries to a local child, destruction of numerous solar panels, and widespread crop damage.

According to National Disaster Management Authority, on August 8, 2024, an eleven-year-old boy was injured due to a collapsing boundary wall. Several homes suffered damage to their walls and a mosque had its roof compromised. Additionally, extensive damage to solar power infrastructure affected many local residents, with reports detailing damaged solar panels and inverters critical for electricity in the region.

The agricultural sector was not spared, with substantial damage reported across various crop fields. Significant losses were reported in maize and tomato cultivation, which are essential to the local economy. The community faces a challenging recovery as they assess the total impact and begin rebuilding efforts.
