HEC Conducts First Learning Skills Assessment Test Across Pakistan

Islamabad: In a pioneering initiative for higher education in Pakistan, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), through its Higher Education Development Programme (HEDP), has conducted the first-ever Learning Skills Assessment Test (LSAT) involving over 5,000 students from affiliated colleges and universities nationwide.

According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the LSAT, developed in collaboration with Dr. Salvador Malo, a World Bank International Consultant, aims to evaluate students’ general abilities in Information Management, Communication, and Problem Solving. The assessment was conducted at 16 selected affiliating universities, each with approximately 10 affiliated colleges. This initiative marks a significant departure from traditional subject-specific assessments, focusing instead on broad cognitive skills essential for various disciplines.
