Hilal War calls for shutdown in Civil Lines area of IOK

Srinagar, January 11, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Political Party (PPP), Engineer Hilal Ahmad War has called for a shutdown in entire Civil Lines area on January 21 to mark the 24th martyrdom anniversary of Gawkadal martyrs. More than 52 innocent civilians were martyred and more than 250 sustained bullet injuries by Indian troops on January 21, 1990.

He said, ‘The Gawkadal massacre was a well-thought plan of the then Home Ministry of India which was aimed at paving the way for Kashmiri Pandits’ exodus from Kashmir. He recalled that the conspiracy of Kashmiri Pandits exodus was hatched by the then Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Jagmohan in collaboration with Home Ministry of India.

Hilal War urged the international human rights organizations to set up an international independent tribunal to probe the Gawkadal massacre so that the conspirators and perpetrators of this heinous crime cold be punished under international law. Condemning the brutal tactics of Indian armed forces to suppress the indigenous liberation movement, he said that the sacrifices rendered by people of Kashmir would not go waste.
