Budapest: Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar has expressed gratitude to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for receiving a gift of 90 mangoes, underscoring Islamabad’s tradition of utilizing its renowned fruit as a diplomatic gesture.
According to Nam News Network, Magyar shared his appreciation in a post on the social media platform X, noting the unique nature of the gift. “Not everyone gives a revolver as a gift. At the end of a historic day, a pleasant surprise was waiting for me in my office. We received 90 mangoes as a gift from the Prime Minister (Shehbaz Sharif) of Pakistan,” he wrote. Magyar humorously added that within an hour, only a few mangoes were left, highlighting their popularity among his team.
Pakistan has a well-known practice of sending its premium mango varieties to foreign leaders, a tradition often referred to as “mango diplomacy.” Magyar’s reference to a revolver alluded to the rare Turkish-made revolver gifted by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan to NATO leaders during the summit held in Ankara from July 7 to 8.
