Increased taxation can damage external trade: Mian Zahid Hussain

Islamabad, August 01, 2016 (PPI-OT): President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), President AKIA, Senior Vice Chairman of the Businessmen Panel of FPCCI and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Monday lauded Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for resolving dispute over property evaluation in a peaceful manner.

His tireless efforts has not only resolved many serious problems but also improved image of the country, he said. Mian Zahid Hussain said that finance minister is taking genuine interest in the issues of business community while his role in the allaying concerns of builders and developers is praiseworthy.

He said that evaluation committees have been established across the country while the issue of evaluators of central banks has been buried which will reduce corruption. The business leader said that Dar’s efforts has not only reduce temperature but it will also help government to generate additional revenue of Rs70 billion.

He also lauded the efforts of Chairman FBR, Special Assistant to the PM on Revenue Haroon Akhtar and President FPCCI Abdul Rauf Alam in this regard. He said that business leaders should play their role in the early release stuck up refunds worth Rs220 billion.

Mian Zahid hoped that Mr. Dar would take note of the performance of export sector which is going down due to incompetence of some officials. He said that imposition of 45 percent taxes on import of dry mils will not only damage investment and public health but also frustrate EU which can damage feeble export sector.
