India Alarmed by Pakistan’s Rapid Military Modernization, Analyst Warns

New Delhi: In a recent vlog, India’s defense analyst Dinesh K Vohra highlighted the rapid military advancements being made by Pakistan, which he claims are disrupting India’s defense strategy.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, while India has traditionally viewed the Pakistan Army as a lesser threat due to its focus on the China corridor, Vohra suggests that this view is quickly changing. He notes that despite Pakistan’s economic challenges, its military has made significant progress, particularly in acquiring modern weaponry.

Vohra revealed that Pakistan has finalized an agreement to purchase 40 fifth-generation stealth fighter jets, the J-35, from China, with deliveries expected by the end of 2026. Pakistani pilots are reportedly training at Chinese airbases, potentially altering the balance of power in the region.

In contrast, Vohra points out that India is struggling to obtain fourth-generation warplanes, leaving it technologically behind its neighbor. He asserts, “Pakistan is already competing for fifth-generation warplanes, while India has no clear plans of acquiring such advanced aircraft.”

The situation is exacerbated by remarks from Indian Air Force Chief Air Marshal AP Singh, who acknowledged India’s lag behind both China and Pakistan. Singh remarked, “India is decades behind China, and now it is lagging behind Pakistan by a decade or more,” highlighting Pakistan’s progress in securing advanced military technology.

Vohra also emphasized that, with the integration of Turkey’s KAAN system, Pakistan could soon have a military advantage over India of up to 12 years. Meanwhile, India continues to rely on outdated aircraft like the MiG-21 and Sukhoi fighter jets, with some units still operating the MiG-21, which Vohra describes as “flying coffins.”

He expressed concern that India’s armed forces are in a deteriorating state, leaving the country vulnerable to potential attacks from both China and Pakistan. The long timelines involved in acquiring new equipment further compound India’s struggle to modernize its military.

Vohra suggests that any foreign purchases of advanced technology could take until at least 2030 to materialize. He calls for a strategic reassessment in New Delhi, stressing the critical state of the country’s defense infrastructure in light of Pakistan’s rapid advancements.
