New Delhi, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh expressed confidence that the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc will secure a decisive mandate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and could name its prime ministerial candidate in less than 48 hours. This assertion highlights the bloc’s robust position and its anticipation of expanding further by attracting members from other coalitions post-election.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a recent interview, Ramesh noted that the party leading in seat count within the alliance would naturally claim its leadership. He anticipated that the INDIA bloc would secure well over the 272 seats required for a majority in the Lower House, indicating a strong voter endorsement. Ramesh also suggested that the alliance’s success might prompt some members from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to consider joining the INDIA bloc, with decisions on such inclusions resting with the Congress high command.
The discussion also touched on potential shifts in alliance among current NDA members, with specific mentions of JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, hinting at possible political realignments depending on the election outcome. Ramesh emphasized that any government formed by the INDIA bloc would strive to be authoritative in its leadership while avoiding authoritarian practices, aiming for a balanced and inclusive governance approach.
