India cannot intimidate Kashmiris into submission: JRL

Srinagar, February 03, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that forcing the Kashmiris into submission by using dictatorial and oppressive means is only day-dream of Indian leaders and their Kashmiri stooges.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the resistance leaders in a statement in Srinagar strongly condemned the use of force by the puppet authorities to prevent a peaceful march towards Shopian town, yesterday. They said that the spree of arrests, stringent restrictions, curfew and barricades, intimidations and threats were the glaring examples of the farcical Indian democracy practiced in occupied Kashmir. The resistance leaders said that the Indian rulers and their puppets must remember that brutal measures and military might could not defeat the Kashmiris’ aspiration for freedom and self-determination and they would continue their struggle till complete success.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement in Srinagar took strong exception to the puppet Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti’s remarks that the draconian law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act would not be repealed from the occupied territory and that Indian Army was the most disciplined army of the world. He said that Mehbooba Mufti was acting as a spokesperson for the Indian army to defend it against its atrocities in the occupied territory.

Meanwhile, complete strike continued in Shopian district on 10th consecutive day, today, against the recent killing of innocent civilians by the Indian troops. Lawyers staged demonstrations in Srinagar and Islamabad town against the civilian killings in Shopian. Shutdown was also observed in Soibug area of Badgam district against the arrest of several youth by the Indian police during raids, last night.

On the other hand, the puppet authorities in a written reply in the so-called Kashmir Assembly admitted that 18 civilians were killed due to the firing of pellets by the Indian troops and police during the past two years. The reply also said that 14,210 youth were arrested on the charges of stone pelting during the past three years of PDP-BJP regime in occupied Kashmir while 1,114 persons were booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act. The puppet administration also revealed that the Indian government had not granted sanction to prosecute army or paramilitary personnel in a single case of human rights violations during the past 28 years.

In Haryana, two Kashmiri students were brutally assaulted by a group of Hindu extremists. The students identified as Aftab and Amjad, doing M.Sc in Geography at Haryana’s Central University, were beaten up after they offered Juma prayers at a local mosque in Mahendragarh town.
