Srinagar: In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has raised concerns over the unlawful detention of more than 3,000 Kashmiris by Indian authorities. These detentions include prominent Hurriyat leaders and are reportedly being prolonged through tactics deemed politically motivated.
According to Radio Pakistan, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas issued a statement in Srinagar, condemning the actions of New Delhi. He accused Indian authorities of utilizing notorious investigative agencies to target Kashmiris based on their political beliefs. Minhas praised the resilience of the imprisoned Hurriyat leaders, activists, and other detainees, asserting that India’s attempts to crush their resolve have not succeeded despite ongoing repression.
Meanwhile, a significant cordon and search operation led by Indian forces in the Dorimal and Gambhir Mughlan forest areas of Rajouri district has continued for 41 days. The operation involves thousands of Indian troops, supported by helicopters, drones, and sniffer dogs. Residents of the area report that troops are conducting home raids and harassing civilians, including women and children.
In a statement to reporters in Srinagar, Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its decision to revoke the special status of IIOJK, claiming it has yielded no positive outcomes. She described the region as an “open-air prison,” where inhabitants are denied fundamental rights, including freedom of expression. Mufti emphasized that the political discontent in Kashmir is deepening, leaving its people feeling increasingly helpless and alienated.
