India won’t be allowed to change IOK’s demography

Srinagar, January 12, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that people of Kashmir will not allow India to change the demographic composition of Jammu and Kashmir. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Kashmiri people would resist tooth and nail any move aimed at changing the demography of the territory, which this time is being done by New Delhi through the judicial route by challenging the state subject law in the Supreme Court of India. He said that changing state subject laws would have a direct bearing on the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir and the Kashmiris’ ongoing movement for right to self-determination. He said that the Hurriyat leadership was keenly watching with concern and would lead the people’s agitation if any move to roll back these provisions was allowed.

Senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in a statement expressing concern over the prolonged detention of all Kashmiri political prisoners demanded their immediate release. He said that India was using all kinds of brutal methods to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle but would never succeed in its nefarious designs.

Another senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, in his statement paid glowing tributes to the commitment of the illegally detained Kashmiris lodged in different jails towards the freedom movement.

Two Indian army personnel, including a Major, were killed and as many others injured in two explosions in Nowshera area of Rajouri district of Jammu. An Indian soldier committed suicide at an army camp in Behibagh area of Kulgam district, last night. This incident raised the number of such deaths amongst the Indian troops and police personnel to 419 in occupied Kashmir since January 2007.

Meanwhile, the occupation authorities have heightened the so-called security and deployed 1,500 additional military and paramilitary troops in Jammu ahead of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s visit. As per reports, Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu on a daylong tour on Tuesday to kick-start the campaign for the coming so-called elections for Lok Sabha and Kashmir Assembly. Apart from launching various Jammu-centric developmental projects, he will also address a public rally at Vijaypur in Samba district.

On the other hand, the intermittent snowfall, which continued for the second consecutive day today, has disturbed the routine life as people have been confined to their houses. The continuous snowfall has led to closure of Srinagar-Jammu Highway and disruption of flights to and from Srinagar thus cutting off the surface and air links of the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the world.
