Indian Soldier Killed in Encounter in Kulgam, Kashmir

Srinagar: An Indian army soldier was killed in a confrontation during a military operation in Kulgam district of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The incident escalated into a gunfight between the forces and armed militants.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the clash took place during a cordon and search operation conducted by Indian forces in the Mudergham area of Kulgam district this afternoon. A senior police officer reported that the soldier was critically injured in the exchange of fire and later died of his injuries after being evacuated to a nearby hospital. The situation in the area remains tense following the encounter.
