India’s Hegemony Claims Disputed During Conflict with Pakistan: DPM

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar stated that India’s claims of hegemony were dismantled during the recent conflict with Pakistan. He emphasized that the world observed India’s assertions disintegrate during this period.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar briefed media representatives in Islamabad about Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives before and after the conflict with India. He highlighted that Pakistan successfully downed six Indian fighter jets and one UAV. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that while Pakistan’s kinetic actions received appreciation, its diplomatic efforts also garnered international recognition, leading to an outcry within India over Pakistan’s diplomatic success.

The ceasefire is currently holding, although Dar expressed regret over the political rhetoric from India, attributing it to the upcoming elections. He reiterated Pakistan’s readiness for dialogue with India, emphasizing that Pakistan seeks a comprehensive dialogue that addresses terrorism and other issues, including the Indus Waters Treaty. He warned that any attempt by India to divert or stop water would be considered an act of war, stressing that the treaty cannot be suspended or amended under international law.

Dar also discussed the recent four-nation tour by the Prime Minister, who visited Turkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan to thank these countries for their solidarity during the conflict. Additionally, he mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to express gratitude for its support.

The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and economic development, announcing that Pakistan will assume the Presidency of the UN Security Council next month. He stated that discussions at the United Nations will focus on the theme “Promoting International Peace and Security through Multilateralism and Peaceful Settlement of Disputes.”
