Islamabad: inDrive, a global mobility and services platform, has launched a new delivery service using rickshaws in Lahore and Karachi. The service aims to provide a cost-effective, fast, and reliable option for parcel deliveries, targeting both customers and small businesses.
The rickshaw delivery service is accessible as a dedicated option within the inDrive app. It offers significant benefits for both drivers and small businesses. Larger deliveries result in better earnings for drivers, while businesses enjoy improved flexibility, increased delivery frequency, and reduced customer turnover.
According to inDrive’s internal data, business customers are the most active users of the rickshaw service, with around 40% opting for rickshaws for deliveries. Among ride-hailing customers, about 30% have used rickshaws for sending items. Additionally, 48% of all customers prefer rickshaws for personal item deliveries, while 52% use them for business purposes.
Awais Saeed, Country Head of inDrive Pakistan, emphasized the service’s potential impact, stating that it addresses customer needs, particularly for small businesses dependent on inDrive for daily operations. He noted that rickshaw delivery offers affordability, higher capacity, and reliability, helping businesses transport goods efficiently and optimize operations.
The rickshaw courier service combines cost-effectiveness with practicality, tackling challenges faced by bike and car deliveries. Rickshaws have a larger carrying capacity suitable for bulky items like pipes and cartons, and they can handle regular parcels such as catering orders and retail products. Their design is well-suited for navigating the congested and narrow streets of Lahore and Karachi.
inDrive operates with a mission to offer convenient and affordable mobility solutions while supporting drivers and small businesses. By promoting local commerce and enhancing urban ecosystems in Pakistan, the platform contributes to economic growth.
