– “Ensuring Swift Action Against Child Sexual Abuse Material on the Internet (child pornography)”

INHOPE (International Association of Internet Hotlines) has today released its 2010 Annual Report. INHOPE represents Internet Hotlines in 34 countries combating on-line Child Sexual Abuse Material (child pornography).

Main points:-

– Number of Hotlines increased to 39 globally.

– In 2010 INHOPE with the support of the European Commission, developed & launched the INHOPE Report Management System which has for the first time collected accurate data on web based child sexual abuse material (CSAM) including:-

– Reports: – Over 24,000 reports of Child Sexual Abuse Material processed by INHOPE Hotlines in 2010.

– Victim age: – 71% of victims pre-pubescent, 4% of victims were infants and 25% of victims were pubescent.

– Victim gender: – 77% of victims were girls, 11% of victims were boys and 12% involved both genders.

– Website type: – 78% of sites reported were non-commercial and 22% were commercially based requiring payment in some form.

– INHOPE in collaboration with GSMA / Mobile Alliance developed and launched a “Guide to Establishing and Managing a Hotline”.
