Int’l Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms being observed

International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms is being observed today.

According to the United Nations, sand and dust storms have become more frequent and severe in recent years.

The day is observed to raise awareness and address the alarming increase in frequency and severity of these natural disasters.

The UN General Assembly has declared the period from 2025 to 2034 as the United Nations Decade on Combating Sand and Dust Storms, to combat these destructive storms and mitigate their impact on communities worldwide.
