IOK authorities urged to release detainees in Ramazan

Srinagar, June 29, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has called for release of all illegally-detained Hurriyet leaders and activists on the eve of holy month of Ramazan so that they can perform their religious obligations with full freedom and devotion.

Syed Ali Gilani made the demand while addressing hundreds of youth and activists, who gathered outside his residence at Hyderpora in Srinagar, today, in connection with “Welcome Ramazan” programme.

On the other hand, the authorities, today, detained APHC leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza to prevent him from visiting the families of Shujatul Islam, Ishtiaq Ahmad Khanday and Imtiyaz Ahmad, who were martyred by Indian troops in Islamabad on this day in 2010.The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front in a statement condemned the continued detention of its Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik and other party leaders and activists.

Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen Chairperson Zamaruda Habib and Secretary General Ms Shamim Shawl telephonically addressing a function in Islamabad said that the ongoing struggle for right to self-determination continued to enjoy support from Kashmiri womenfolk since the start of the movement.

Meanwhile, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Shabbir Ahmad Shah in their separate statements expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of the wife of United Jihad Council chief, Syed Salahuddin. She passed away at a hospital in Srinagar after protracted illness. People from all walks of life including Hurriyet leader Zafar Akbar Butt participated in her funeral prayers.
