IOK people face Karbala-like situation almost every day: Gilani

Srinagar, September 22, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that the people of the territory are fighting for a just cause for the last over seven decades and are witnessing Karbala-like situation almost every day.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that more than 6.5 lakh Kashmiris had been killed and properties worth trillions lost and lakhs of people injured but the Indian brutality and repression, through its local conduits, seemed to have no end.

He strongly condemned the use of brute force against the Aashura processions in Aabi Guzar to Zadibal areas of Srinagar by the Indian police that caused injuries to scores of mourners. He also denounced the arrest of Hurriyat leaders, Nisar Hussain Rathar, Agha Syed Ahmed Al-Moosvi, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, Ali Muhammad Rathar, Shabbir Hussain Dar and more than two hundred other mourners.

He castigated the occupation authorities for their biased interference in religious matters of the Muslims while showing sympathies with the Hindus by providing every kind of assistance to Yatris or ceremonies related to their religion.

Syed Ali Gilani paid rich tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions martyred at Karbala and said that this was not just a battle between two forces, but between two ideologies. He said, Imam Hussain (RA) honestly and courageously fought the forces which were trying to convert Khilafat into Mallokiyat and this incident glorifies the concrete and unshakable concept of Islam that injustice, tyranny and highhandedness, even if done by Muslims, who are practicing and claim to be the best, is not accepted.

The APHC Chairman said, Imam Hussain (RA) didn’t belong to any particular sect or group but was an icon of bravery and justice for whole Ummah and the path he has shown serves as a beacon of light even today for every Muslim, especially those fighting and confronting the aggression. “Imam Hussain (RA) didn’t fight for power, perks or comforts, but for justice and equality, therefore, anybody whose religion, economy, culture, honour, life and livelihood are always under threat, should get inspiration from him,” he said.
