Islamabad: A conference focused on the issues of Palestine and Kashmir was organized in Islamabad to mark the one-year anniversary of what was described as Israel’s aggression on Gaza. The event brought together political leaders, activists, and journalists to discuss and call for the resolution of the long-standing disputes in both regions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the conference featured former ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir Abdul Rasheed Turabi as the chief guest. Notable speakers included Tehreek Jawanan Pakistan President Abdullah Hameed Gul, former Azad Jammu and Kashmir Minister Farzana Yaqoob, Palestinian journalist Jalal Farah, and Hurriyat leaders Abdul Hameed Lone and Zahid Safi, with Pakistan Awami Quwat Party Chairman Khaqan Waheed Khawaja presiding over the event.
The speakers collectively emphasized the urgent need for a resolution to the Kashmir and Palestine issues, commemorating the Palestinians martyred during the conflict in Gaza a year prior. They criticized the international community for its silence on the ongoing violence and atrocities committed by Israeli forces in Gaza and by Indian forces in Kashmir. The conference highlighted the continuous targeting of hospitals, mosques, schools, and refugee camps in Gaza by the Zionist army, which has resulted in approximately 42,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries to over 97,000 individuals.
The demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza was strongly voiced, alongside concerns that Israeli state terrorism is expanding to other regional countries, including Lebanon. The parallels between the situations in occupied Kashmir and Palestine were drawn, noting the similar struggles of the people in both regions against foreign domination and their peaceful efforts to attain freedom.
The event concluded with prayers for the martyrs of Kashmir and Palestine, hoping for peace and resolution in both territories.
