Islamabad, In a determined effort to ensure fair travel conditions for residents during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, the Islamabad Traffic Police have announced a crackdown on public service and passenger vehicles found guilty of overloading and overcharging. This initiative, led by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muhammad Sarfraz Virk, involves the formation of special squads tasked with monitoring bus and wagon stands throughout the capital city, aiming to protect passengers from exploitation during the festive period.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, these squads, alongside additional checkpoints on various city roads, are empowered to impose heavy fines on vehicles that overload or overcharge passengers. Any extra fare collected will be reimbursed to affected passengers. This move is part of a broader effort to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and uphold passenger rights in Islamabad. Zonal DSPs have been instructed to closely monitor the situation and guarantee that offenders are swiftly penalized.
CTO Muhammad Sarfraz Virk emphasized the police’s commitment to maintaining the convenience and safety of citizens as a top priority. He assured that the police are taking all possible measures to facilitate an uninterrupted flow of traffic and encouraged passengers to report any grievances through the “Pucar 15â€� helpline or the “ICT-15â€� mobile application.
