Jamiat e Ulema e Islam chief Maulana Fazl Ur Rehman calls on Interior Minister

Islamabad, January 01, 2014 (PPI-OT): Jamiat e Ulema e Islam (F) Chief, Maulana Fazl Ur Rehman called on Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here today.

Overall political and security situation of the country with particular reference to the efforts being carried out for establishing peace in FATA region came under discussion during the meeting.

The Minister expressed the government’s resolve to establish peace in the affected areas through the process of dialogue with Taliban and said that the government is pursuing the path of dialogue sincerely. He said it is incumbent upon the other side also to react positively.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said there should be no doubt in anybody’s mind about the government’s resolve not only to protect every inch of its territory but also the life and property of every citizen. He added that enough blood has already been spilled and suffering caused to the patriotic people of FATA.

He said some of Taliban factions opposing the peace process must grow out of their mindsets and respond in a similar manner to the positive gestures of both the government and the entire political leadership of Pakistan.

Maulana Fazl ur Rehman expressed his confidence in efforts of the government for establishing lasting peace in the affected areas and felt that this is the right time to seize the initiative.

He said that the people of FATA genuinely want peace as they have endured over decade-long sufferings. He hoped that the will of the people of FATA and Pakistan will prevail and assured that his party will assist the government in bringing peace in tribal areas.
