Jammu, Vikar Rasool Wani, the President of the Indian National Congress (INC) in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has vocalized concerns over the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) approach to governance, asserting that the party is endangering the democratic fabric of India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a party meeting in the Jammu district, Wani criticized the BJP’s tactics against opposition parties, highlighting a series of actions he perceives as threats to democratic principles. He pointed to the alleged targeting of top opposition figures with legal actions and the financial undermining of the Congress party, emphasizing the broader implications for democracy in India.
Wani referenced the controversy surrounding the BJP’s fundraising through an electoral bond scheme, which he described as unconstitutional following a Supreme Court ruling. He argued that this scheme represented a significant corruption issue within the BJP’s tenure, accusing the ruling party of leveraging state agencies for financial gain while simultaneously stripping the Congress of essential resources.
Adding to the discourse, party leader Raman Bhalla condemned the BJP for perceived injustices in the Jammu region, asserting that the local Dogra community has suffered erosion of rights and identity over a decade of BJP rule. He cited concerns over land ownership, employment, trade, and resource allocation, suggesting that policies favor external interests over local needs.
