Japan External Trade Organization mission, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry members hold business-to-business session

Karachi, November 25, 2014 (PPI-OT): A high powered mission from Japan under the aegis of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Tuesday visited the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) to hold business-to-business (B2B) meetings with KCCI members with an objective to explore the potential of Pakistani market and discuss the possibilities of undertaking joint ventures.

JETRO Mission, which was led by Mr. Nobuyuki NAGASAWA, Director Daiichi Jitsugyo and Mr. Osamu HISAKI, Country Director JETRO Karachi, comprised of Mr. Yuhei TOSAKA, Mr. Munetaka KAMIYA, Mr. Shuichi HATAKEYAMA, Ms. Rie MIHARA, Mr. Hisanori MATSUBAYASHI, Mr. Motoki MURAI, Ms. Xue FENG, Mr. Yukihiro UEHARA, and Mr. So KITAMI whereas President KCCI, Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra, Vice President KCCI, Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan and KCCI Managing Committee members were also present at the meeting.

JETRO Mission represented various businesses including machinery trading, consumer products, precision cutting tools, fluid coupling, machine tools, sanitary wares, banking, and aftermarket parts sales.

Leaders of JETRO Mission, Mr. Nobuyuki NAGASAWA, Director Daiichi Jitsugyo, while highlighting the purpose of their visit to Karachi, said that members of JETRO mission are keen to undertake joint ventures with their Pakistani counterparts as Pakistan, being a developing country, offers immense opportunities for undertaking joint ventures and trade enhancement in various sectors of the economy.

Senior Manager Asia and Oceania Division, Mizuho Bank Limited Japan, Mr. Hisanori MATSUBAYASHI, during his presentation, informed that Mizuho Financial Group was the world’s largest full-service financial conglomerates with offices in over 30 countries and having banking experience of 141 years. Although Mizuho Bank has offices in various cities of India but the bank was looking forward to further expanding its operations in this region by opening offices in Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, he added.

Earlier, while welcoming the JETRO Mission, President KCCI, Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra informed that the emerging economy of Pakistan offers abundant opportunities for investment and joint ventures in various sectors including the energy sector, infrastructural development, grain, textile, surgical and sports goods etc. With a massive population of 200 million people, Pakistan offers ample opportunities to Japanese investors who would surely benefit by effectively penetrating into the Pakistani market.

He also invited the Japanese businessmen and industrialists to participate in 12th My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony exhibition scheduled to be held from 10th to 12th April, 2015 at Karachi Expo Center which would provide them a perfect opportunity to promote Japanese goods and services in front of more than 1 million visitors.
