Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed officials to devise a strategy for improving the primary and secondary healthcare system in Islamabad to reduce the burden on tertiary hospitals. He chaired a meeting in Islamabad to review the progress on the construction of the Jinnah Medical Complex in the federal capital.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized that international standards of specialized healthcare should be followed during the construction of the Jinnah Medical Complex. This complex is expected to offer world-class healthcare facilities for patients from all four provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Prime Minister also instructed that different blocks of the Jinnah Medical Complex be named after the provinces, with a focus on transparency and merit during its construction and staff recruitment. Additionally, third-party validation of the construction work was mandated to ensure quality.
The meeting was informed that the concept design, land transfer, and board appointments are nearing completion. A geo-technical study is also in progress to ensure the highest quality of construction and to maximize the hospital’s impact on the residents of Islamabad and its surrounding areas.
