Ahsan Iqbal Unveils Insights from 7th Agricultural Census

Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to adapting the agriculture sector to be climate-resilient and in line with international standards. During the launch event of the seventh Agricultural Census in Islamabad, he highlighted that the newly collected data on agricultural land and livestock would be pivotal for developing policies aimed at enhancing the sector.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal pointed out that agriculture remains a fundamental pillar of the national economy, accounting for approximately twenty-four percent of the Gross Domestic Product. He also noted that the size of cultivable land in the country has expanded from 42.6 million acres to 52.8 million acres, as indicated by the latest census data.

The Minister underscored the importance of fostering cooperative farming practices as a means to achieve self-sufficiency in agriculture and to secure national food security.
